5 stars for our 2010 Silent Showman Shiraz by Winestate Magazine

Already rated 93/100 by wine critic James Halliday our 2010 Silent Showman Shiraz has just been awarded 5 stars by  Winestate Magazine  and “Top in Class” at the annual Central & Western Victoria tasting. As our volumes are extremely limited this wine is only available through our online store and Cellar Door.

Similar in style to the 2008 which sold out There are a total of 7 levels in the online casino Tropez VIP club including Premier Club (highest level), Diamond, Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze and Club. in record time this wine is dense purple with fragrant mocha, blackberry and licorice aromas and dark berry fruits, chocolate and spice through the palate. A parcel of this wine was barrel fermented in new American and French oak barriques to creating incredible complexity with plump ripe tannins providing a soft rounded structure. Early bottling has captured these characters, and bottling under screw cap means this wine will retain its freshness for many years to come.

A wine as big and rich as this demands red meat. Marinate and serve it chargrilled with a red -wine sauce and you’re onto a winner .”

At the recent 2012 Winestate Magazine Italian & Spanish varieties tasting the 2008 Tallis Dookie Hills Sangiovese was awarded 3 stars. Priced at $22 ($16.50 for Tallisman Members) our Sangiovese continues to be rated as excellent value for money.

As a lighter bodied red, this wine is a great all rounder for both the warmer and wintery months. Sangiovese's acidity and mouthfilling tannins make it a good match with panzanella salad, roasted and grilled meats, poultry and thin based pizzas.


Taking home gold & a trophy at the 2012 Australian Boutique Wine Awards


Ecstatic, astonished, jubilant .... just some of the reactions at Tallis Wine when we were recently advised we had won a top award with our 2010 Dookie Hills Viognier.  Awards Chairman of the 2012 Australian Boutique Wine Show, Huon Hooke presented the trophy to Alice and Richard at a black tie dinner last Friday night at The Four Seasons Hotel in Sydney. Richard said the acknowledgment that our wines were of trophy standard was a great honour. The Dookie Hills Shiraz 2010 was also awarded a silver medal and the Silent Showman Shiraz Viognier awarded a bronze.

The 14 trophy winning wines were served with a four course dinner attended by wine media, restaurateurs, wine merchants, export distributors and wine industry guests. The accolade gives Tallis Wine a valuable opportunity for their wines to receive far-reaching exposure and put Dookie on the wine trail map.

Open to Australian and New Zealand boutique wineries, CEO Judith Kennedy said the 2012 Wine Show was possibly the most successful year yet with regard to quality. The Show was judged by nine of the most experienced judges in Australia lead by Chairman Huon Hooke judging over three days at Sydney"s Homebush where the record number of trophies was awarded.

Our reaction was one of disbelief that we had finally achieved this milestone, so much so that we had to ring the publisher to ask her to double-check that it really was Tallis Wine that received the accolade. Twice. In fact we spelt the name to her during each call. Twice. Then the screaming began … and we’re still celebrating. Here is what James Halliday had to say about Tallis Wine “Richard and Alice Tallis have 16 ha of shiraz, 5.4 ha of cabernet sauvignon, 2 ha of viognier and a small planting of sangiovese and merlot. They have embarked on winemaking with considerable success. The philosophy of their winemaking and viticulture is minimal intervention to create a low- input and sustainable system; use of environmentally harmful sprays is minimised.

The Silent Showman Shiraz Viognier 2006 Developed red, although no brick hue yet; a supple wine that (appropriately) has many of the characters of the '07, although it is surprising there is only 12 months difference; a percentage of co-fermented viognier works well, and the more the wine is tasted, the more the length of the palate manifests itself. Screwcap. 14% alc. Rating 94 Drink 2026 The Silent Showman Shiraz 2007 Deep, dark purple-red; all the best techniques have been employed in making this opulent full-bodied shiraz, with blackberry, spice and vanilla spun in a complex web of flavour; the '06 suggests even better things in store. Three stars for the Tallis Dookie Hills Viognier 2008

Winestate Magazine awarded three stars to our Dookie Hills Viognier 2008 in its recent new releases tasting. This wine won a silver medal at the Victorian Wine Show a couple of months ago so seem to be doing quite nicely. Not bad for an $18 online casinos bottle of wine, or even less if you are a Tallisman member.
