Harvesting grapes for all varietals is now complete. Yields have been moderate but the quality is excellent and the reds going into barrel are showing great promise. The vines have been watered and will be pruned in June and will be tucked in for winter.
Richard, our winemaker is finalising the Shiraz blends for 2014 and bedding down the 2015 wine for a relaxing 12 months of maturing.
We did a late harvest Riesling which is simpler than the Botrytis and makes a light sweet wine to accompany dessert. The second vintage of a trial plot of a grape variety which is new to Australia has been picked and has members of a wine collaboration rather excited. What lucky vines to come down under land in the ancient rich red Dookie dirt!
