Join us to officially open the breathtaking new interpretive walking trail, ‘The Rock Correa Walk’ at Tallis Wine - Dookie. Meet in the cellar door car park at 4pm and together we will walk the track to the top of Tallis hill. Witness the official launch, smoking ceremony and view the panorama panels outlining significant regional landmarks. Please wear suitable footwear. After making our way back to Tallis cellar door watch the premier screening of ‘Yorta Yorta Connection to Country – Dookie’, then relax to the sounds of local talent and enjoy Indigenous food and Tallis wine.
The Rock Correa Walk is a collaborative project between the Tallis family, Yorta Yorta Nation Aboriginal Corporation and the Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority. It has been made possible through funding from the Australian Government’s National Landcare Programme. The walk, featuring eleven large signs dotted along the track, is designed to take in the magnificent views from the hills, whilst using interpretive signage at points along the way to raise awareness of: The Yorta Yorta people as the Traditional Owners of this region; The Grassy Woodlands once abundant in this area; Early regional settlement by Europeans.
A partnership of this kind, between an Indigenous community and a private landholder is both rare and exciting. We hope this project will make a significant contribution towards fostering reconciliation and increasing awareness of our rich cultural heritage.
