What you need to know about sangiovese
Sangiovese
Tallis Dookie Hills Sangiovese 2005
The Italian varietals including Sangiovese and Nebbiolo grow extremely well in our vineyard, perhaps due to our region experiencing a similar continental climate to Tuscany, where these varieties originated.
Tasting note: Intense cherry and spice aromas with savoury, earthy undertones. Plump dark fruits and hints of black olive in the palate are perfectly balanced by restrained oak. Firm, dry tannins provide palate weight and good length.
ALC/VOL 13.6%. Approx 8.0 standard drinks. Preservative 220 added.
Review: Tallis Dookie Hills Sangiovese 2005 Recommended. Fairly typical spicy cherry/sour cherry aromas and flavours; light to medium-bodied, and those faintly dusty tannins of the variety. Rating 88. James Halliday - Australian Wine Companion 2008 edition.
