Tallis Dookie Hills 2022 Tasting notes:
Appearance: Intense deep blood plum red in colour
Nose: Aromas of blueberry jam, cinnamon and clove from oak with a hint of blackberry
Palate: The palate can be described as “juicy”, much like the plump Merlot berry is on the vine. A full bodied palate of ripe dark fruits, some bracken and a mouthcoating dose of structured ripe tannins
Drink: Now to 2032

MERLOT (mer-low)
Merlot was introduced to Australia in the mid 20th century and has since become one of the country’s key red wine varietals behind Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon in popularity.
Climate, altitude and soil can influence the the style of Merlot produced. In northern and north eastern Victoria, Merlot tends to be fruit forward, medium to full bodied and plush, with ripe flavours of dark plum, blackberry and black cherry. Oak is often used to add spice and depth, but the wine generally maintains soft tannins and a smooth finish, making Merlot approachable and versatile.
